And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Community and health is a vital correlation in making the world a better place for everyone. I believe it takes arduous effort and community engagement to develop innovative solutions for disparities in this world. Health is much more than the physical aspect, but it is a balance of mentally, spiritual, and emotional well being of individuals. I always had this saying “People need people” and that is a true statement in achieving any task in life may throw at you and health is definitely one of them.
I am going to senior at Sacramento State majoring in Health Science in the concentration in Community Health Education. I am a firm believer in giving back to the community and advocating health into the lives of people. What I want to do is become a health educator by educating families and kids on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle through the matters we go day by day. I am honored and privileged to be interning for Building Healthy Communities because it’s a never ending mission in creating opportunities for the community, educating the youth, providing healthy environmental conditions, and improving access for individuals. This opportunity gives me a vision of what I want to do in the future and it will truly enhance my character in working in the community. I want to thank my preceptor Kim Williams for giving me this opportunity to intern for HUB and Alberto Mercado for showing me how much of a thrill life can be when you see the positive side of everything.
